49 CFR 383.111(b)(7)(iv) (Parking brake); AAMVA CDL Manual, Section 5, subsection 5.4.8 (Parking Brakes), p. 5-9
Why This Matters
A frozen-stuck parking brake can strand a loaded commercial vehicle in cold weather, sometimes in a traffic lane or on a grade. Knowing to chock the wheels when parking, or dry the brakes first when continuing to drive, instead of just setting the parking brake, can prevent a breakdown and a dangerous roadside situation.
