What clearance problem must be checked for on the lower, tractor-mounted fifth wheel setup of a doubles/triples combination during the walk-around inspection?

49 CFR 383.115(e); AAMVA CDL Manual Section 7.3.1, p. 7-3

Why This Matters

A lower fifth wheel mounted too far forward can let the tractor frame strike the landing gear mid-turn, causing structural damage or even an uncoupling event on the road. Catching this during a static walk-around is far safer than discovering it while turning with a loaded trailer.
