Under the current 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Table, how is a 'Consumer commodity' (such as a case of retail aerosol products or over-the-counter medicines packaged for shipment) classified?

49 CFR 172.101 Hazardous Materials Table (Consumer commodity entry, Class 9, ID8000); 49 CFR 172.101(j)(2)

Why This Matters

ORM-D disappeared from the regulations, but plenty of training materials (and some drivers' memories) still reference it. Knowing that consumer commodities now fall under Class 9/ID8000 prevents a driver from looking for a marking category that no longer exists.
