AAMVA CDL Manual, Section 4.1.5, p. 4-1

Why This Matters

Many crashes happen close to home or on short, familiar routes where drivers let their guard down. Treating the seat belt as optional on a 'quick' trip removes the one piece of equipment that protects the driver during a sudden stop or collision.
