ELDT.IO vs the other online ELDT providers

ELDT.IO is the cheapest FMCSA-registered online ELDT theory provider at $15, covering one course or all four, lower than every provider in the comparison below.

ELDT.IO charges $15 once. Take one course or all four: Class A, Class B, B-to-A upgrade, and hazmat. Other FMCSA-registered providers in this comparison charge $18.99 to $249 per course for the same federally required topics, and none of them bundle all four courses into one price the way ELDT.IO does. Every provider listed will get you a valid theory completion. The differences are price, format, and who is behind it. Prices checked September 2026.

Provider Class A theory Hazmat theory
ELDT.IO $15 $15
RoadCert $18.99 $18.99
DLA Academy $20 $20
ELDT Nation $23 $23
ELDT USA see site see site
ELDT America see site see site
ELDT.com $50–$125 $25–$94
SaferTraining $99 $49
OnlineCDLCourse.com $125 $50
CDL Direct $249 $99

ELDT.IO's $15 is a single, one-time payment, take one course or all four. Every other provider on this page charges per course, so a driver who needs two courses (Class A plus hazmat is common) pays twice at any of them. Prices from each provider's public site on the date shown. They change. Always confirm a provider is on the FMCSA registry before paying: how to check.

Why we can charge $15 or less: fifteen dollars (or as low as $8 in bulk, see below) covers hosting and the FMCSA reporting and keeps the site running. It is not a big money maker. It gets you to your permit. No office, no sales team, no call center to pay for.

Referring Drivers or Training a Group?

RoadCert offers a bulk rate of $14.24 per seat for 3 or more seats, intended for schools and employers buying multiple student seats, not a single driver buying more than one course for themselves. We have two programs built for exactly that case, whether you want to earn from referrals or pay for a roster yourself.

Send us students, we pay you.

Refer drivers who pay $15 for themselves, and our Partner Program pays you $5 to $7 cash per student who completes a course. Real income, not a discount on someone else's bill.

Paying for your students yourself?

Add your roster and pay once for the group. Seats start at $10 per student, all four courses included, cheaper than RoadCert's bulk rate, and it gets cheaper still the more you send over time. Set up bulk pricing.

What's the same everywhere

The federal rule (49 CFR Part 380) fixes the required topic list, and no provider can skip a topic. Providers can add their own extra features or policies on top of that baseline, and some states add requirements of their own beyond the federal minimum. There is no federal minimum number of hours for theory. Your state DMV sees the same registry record whether you paid $15 or $249.

What actually differs

Price. The spread is $15 to $249 for the same topic list.

Format. Text, video, audio, apps. Pick what you will actually finish. A video course you never complete costs more than a text course you do.

Reporting speed. The rule gives providers until the end of the second business day. We report the moment you pass. Ask any provider how fast they report before you pay.

Who's behind it. Some providers are big companies, some are a person. Ours is a person: Christopher F. Nesbitt, Sr., Class A since 2007, hazmat and tanker endorsed, state fire instructor.

Is ELDT.IO the same as ELDT.com?

No. They are completely separate companies with no affiliation. ELDT.IO is this site, run by Christopher F. Nesbitt, Sr. ELDT.com is a different company. Both are on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry and must cover the same required topics under 49 CFR Part 380. The difference is price: ELDT.IO is $15, ELDT.com is $50 to $125. Your state DMV cannot tell the difference. Both produce the same registry record.

When to pick someone else

If you need Spanish or Russian, we do not have that yet. If you need Passenger or School Bus theory today, we are still building those. If you want narrated video, ELDT Nation and OnlineCDLCourse do that well.

When to pick us

If you want to pay the least for a complete, registered theory course, have it on the registry the second you pass, and know a real driver answers the email.

Every ELDT.IO course is $15. Pick your course.

Questions about pricing and providers

What is the cheapest ELDT theory course?

ELDT.IO: pay $15 once, take one course or all four. Lowest price among FMCSA-registered online providers as of September 2026.

Does a more expensive course give me a better CDL?

No. The federal rule sets the topic list. No provider can skip a topic or add a requirement. Your state DMV sees the same Training Provider Registry record whether you paid $15 or $249.

How does ELDT.IO compare to ELDT.com?

ELDT.IO charges $15. ELDT.com charges $50 to $125 depending on the tier. Both are FMCSA registered and cover the same required topics under 49 CFR Part 380.

Are all ELDT providers the same?

They must cover the same federal topic list. Differences are price, format, and reporting speed. We report to the Training Provider Registry the moment you pass, not at the end of the next business day.

Is ELDT.IO the same as ELDT.com?

No. ELDT.IO and ELDT.com are two separate, unaffiliated companies. Both are FMCSA registered and cover the same required topics. ELDT.IO is $15. ELDT.com is $50 to $125. Your state DMV sees the same registry record from either provider.

Is ELDT.IO an FMCSA-approved ELDT training program?

ELDT.IO is listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry, same as every other provider on this page. FMCSA registers providers rather than formally "approving" them, and registry listing is not a government endorsement of teaching quality. It is what makes a completion count: your state DMV checks the same registry before your CDL skills test or hazmat knowledge test.
