Finished ELDT? How to Check Your Training Record
Your training provider reports your ELDT completion to FMCSA, not you. That's a legal requirement under federal law, and it happens automatically within two business days of finishing.

It's the provider's job, not yours
Under 49 CFR 380.717, your training provider is legally required to electronically submit your completion to the Training Provider Registry, the TPR, by midnight of the second business day after you finish. That submission includes your name, license or CLP number, state, the class or endorsement you trained for, the provider's name and TPR ID, and the completion date.
You never have to submit anything yourself. If your provider is doing its job correctly, you don't touch this step at all.
No login, just a lookup
People sometimes go looking for an "ELDT account" to log into and check their own record. There isn't one, at least not built into the federal system itself. The TPR is where providers submit data, not a driver-facing dashboard.
What FMCSA does offer is a straightforward public lookup. Go to tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov/check and you can confirm a completed record directly, no account required.
What happens between the registry and your state DMV
Here's where we'll be straight with you about a gap. Federal law requires the provider to get your completion into the TPR. It doesn't spell out, in that same rule, the exact mechanics of how your state DMV pulls that information when you show up for your CDL test.
In practice, this is between your provider and your state's process. If something looks off, your provider and your state DMV are the two parties who can actually sort it out, not a guess on our part.
What to actually do
Finish your course. Confirm it at tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov/check once your provider's reporting window has passed, give it a couple of business days. If it's not showing up, contact your provider directly before your test date, not after.

Questions people ask
Do I have to report my own ELDT completion to FMCSA?
No. Under 49 CFR 380.717, that's the training provider's legal duty, not the student's. The provider must electronically transmit your completion to the Training Provider Registry by midnight of the second business day after you finish.
Can I log into FMCSA to check my own training record?
There's no separate driver login built into the federal Training Provider Registry system. FMCSA does provide a public completion-check tool at tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov/check for exactly this purpose.
What should I do if my training record looks wrong or missing?
Check tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov/check first. If something looks off, contact your training provider directly, and confirm with your state DMV how they expect to see your record before your test.
