Questions about Emergency Exits & Evacuation

When can a bus be driven with an emergency exit door or window open?

Only for ventilation in hot weather or similar limited situations, and only when it doesn't create a hazard, such as a rider falling through or debris coming in. It's never meant to be a normal way to vent the bus.

How should a driver handle a drunk or disruptive rider?

The driver's first priority is the safety of everyone else on board. The CDL manual says it's often safer to wait until the next scheduled stop to deal with the person rather than pulling over immediately, and to follow the carrier's specific procedures for that situation.
