Questions about Loading, Unloading & Segregation

What does an X mean on the hazmat segregation table?

An X means those two hazard classes are forbidden from being loaded, transported, or stored together in the same vehicle, no exceptions for distance or separation.

Can I ever load cyanide and acids together if I keep them far enough apart?

No. Under 49 CFR 177.848(c), cyanides and acids are absolutely forbidden from sharing a vehicle regardless of distance, even in situations where the general table would otherwise allow a lesser separation.
